A home away from home: Vianaar Goa

Since city dwellers are making a move for the hills or to Goa to escape the rushed life, cacophony in busy streets, pollution and stressors; I, too, like to escape the city as often as I can. You don’t need to have a mid-life crisis to want to flee the stressful environs of a 9-5 job, bumper to bumper traffic and poor air quality. During the winter months when Delhi air quality starts to deteriorate, I, along with many of you, often fly to Goa and stay put until the weather improves.

Since my job requires a lot of travel and visits to a few dozen hotels everywhere, I have a new found appreciation for holiday homes and rentals that allow you to experience all the creature comforts of a hotel in a homely environment-a space to call my own. You can come in for a weekend or a couple of weeks and enjoy the destination. There are a couple of things I’m very particular about when I’m looking at holiday rentals- safety, proximity to the nearest chemist, hospital and accessibility.

I had read about Varun Nagpal, the CEO of Vianaar homes almost two years ago and the company has grown by leaps and bounds since then. He envisioned that with the advent of holiday homes, businessmen, couples with young kids and families would retreat to the peaceful environment of Goa and use the home as a space to rest, refuel and be productive.

They have properties all over Goa so as to provide residents with a comfortable environment with power back-up, a swimming pool, a gym and round the clock security. This makes a solo traveller like me very comfortable and I often check into one of their apartments when its vacant for a week at a time. The apartments (studios and otherwise) are serviced daily and the resident guests also have the option of dining in at breakfast if they don’t feel like venturing out to a cafe close by. Expect piping hot parathas, cereal, tea and coffee as well as eggs (any way you like them).

Santa Terra, is situated on a quiet stretch of Candolim so you get to be close to the shops and the cafes but far away from the crowds and the noise. The property is beautiful with a lot of green and the rooms are beautifully appointed to allow its guests privacy. The compound has daily housekeeping facilities, round-the-clock security with guards, breakfast service as well as the daily change of bed linen and towels.

Verdict- whether you are looking for a holiday home or to shift with your family to Goa and experience the ‘susegad’ life or if you are like me and want to rent their apartments for a short-term basis- head over to their website. They have 24 properties at the moment and are currently expanding in Goa and Alibaug. With state of the art facilities, round the clock security, designer fittings and even a chef on call. With their attention to detail, impeccable service and a team that is equipped to handle almost any request- you can’t go wrong with Vianaar. They can also organise babysitting services or a road trip to the waterfalls or a visit to the spice plantation, if you wish.
