Outpost co-working Bali

Outpost Bali is co-working and co-living space dedicated to forming a strong community of independent entrepreneurs and groups that not only work together but also have the option of living together, in an idyllic location. We live in an age where almost any form of work can be done remotely thanks to the advent of the Internet, and an increasing number of people are looking for ways to avoid the fatigue of regular life in big metropolises, thereby maximizing their productivity. Outpost Bali was created out of this exact necessity allowing for remote workers and digital nomad to work hard and play harder and fine-tune their idea of a work-life balance.

Founders David Abraham and Bryan Stewart scoured the globe to find the perfect location to work from and when they couldn’t finding the perfect space that fit their bill, decided to create their own space. Located in the village of Nyuh Kuning, Outpost Bali offers members and residents a unique chance to enjoy the most calming and invigorating elements of the hustling city of Ubud, without its touristy distractions. It sits amidst Bali’s lush jungle foliage and yet is a mere four-minute scooter ride away from the city center, a hip location which features yoga and Pilates studios, cafes and quaint Indonesian restaurants.

The main hub offers a host of facilities that are required for the seamless functioning of an offsite office, which includes great internet connectivity, Skype rooms, conference facilities, a space for collaboration, as well as individual and team office spaces. The green window cafe has the best staff, serves up the best working lunches and even whips up a delicious coffee and smoothie bowl, if you are feeling peckish. It even has a lovely breezy balcony overlooking the jungle, a great place for thinking and contemplation. The community itself is composed of a wide range of professionals, both local and international, who are more than happy to lend a helping hand and collaborate with fellow members if possible.

Outpost Bali also offers travelling guests some great accommodation choices including two well thought out 3-bedroom villas that are barely an eight-minute walk away from the main hub. Each room is air-conditioned and offers a fantastic jungle view. Villa residents have access to a swimming pool, yoga space, a personal chef, and cleaning services. The time saved on cooking, cleaning, and commuting is no coincidence, as Outpost believes in enabling you to maximize productivity during your stay by handling your domestic duties for you. Alternatively, you could opt to stay at the Bali Spirit Hotel that sits on the property grounds or in a studio apartment at the Loka Pala Villa, a tranquil compound set amidst the stunning backdrop of paddy fields. And if none of the offered accommodation choices suit your purpose, the staff at Outpost will gladly connect you with an accommodation consultant.

Outpost Bali is by no means a run-of-mill business operation as giving back to the community is high up on its agenda. Local NGOs are offered free space at the hub, which also hosts Indonesian entrepreneurs-in-residence. Having understood and dealt with the pains of a nomadic work-lifestyle in their past has lead the founders to creating a state of the art collaborative workspace for others who find themselves in similar positions. The community is also regularly invited to attend in-house events and workshops that are aimed at expanding networks, increasing skills, sharpening focus, and mingling with other members and having an all-round good time. They organise treks, white water rafting, volcano climbs and bbq and pool nights as well as special movie screenings.

They have also partnered with the Ubud Yoga Centre which I highly recommend you visit for hot yoga, pilates sessions that will stretch you out and work on your core fitness. The partnerships also include discounts at Alchemy Ubud which is a fantastic space for lunch with fresh kombucha, jamu, gluten-free pizzas and vegan coffee. They also have a clinic upstairs in case you want a colonic or if you feel like scheduling a session for Reiki and breathwork.

So if you do find yourself drained by the rigors of working in whatever big metropolis you reside in and decide to try working from an exciting new location, Outpost Bali will gladly have you as part of its blossoming community, be it for two days, two months, or two years.

Verdict- I loved my time at Outpost Bali and was so thrilled to see the living and working environment at the establishment. The staff was very friendly and the people working in the rooms were very disciplined and determined so I managed to get a lot of work done. I met some fabulous people at the Green Window cafe nearby over coffee and #smoothiebowls and when I walked across to Balispirit for a swim in the evening. The weekly yoga sessions and lunchtime massages are really special and I love that you can ask for Bali coffee or a Bali coconut on a hot day. Special thanks to David and Bryan for organizing all of this at such short notice and for everyone at Outpost Bali for making my stay a memorable one.I will be sharing more on the co-living arrangements in my next post but I can’t wait to be back here in Ubud.
